Kansas State School Board Outcomes: KR, IPS, HSG, PSC, SEG Kansas School Redesign Principles: SS, PL, CP, RWA This session is a “year in review” regarding legal issues related to special education. It will include a discussion of selected due process hearing decisions and state complaint reports in Kansas over the past year. In addition, the presenters will provide an analysis of court decisions, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) and Office for Civil Rights (OCR) letters and guidance documents, and questions and answers from parents and school officials to KSDE during the past year. This session will provide administrators with an opportunity to see how special education legal requirements apply in actual situations and how real disputes are resolved in the various processes used by parents, school officials, advocates, and government agencies.
