Education leaders will begin by learning about Dyslexia, how it impacts a student's acquisition of reading and the prevalence. A quick introduction to the Science of Reading and the importance of explicit instruction and supporting the learner in the classroom will be provided. Resources will be shared to further those engaged in learning more about evidence-based practices. Experiential learning will be shared on how to examine screening data and explore the strengths, limitations, and pitfalls in the flagging process, along with diagnostic tools to confirm needs and the role of progress monitoring to measure progress. Along with the evaluation process, role of 504 Plan versus an IEP, and overall collaborative experiences in merging tiers to meet the needs of learners with reading difficulties.
